In 2012, AA awarded us with 5 star status, making Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa one of the highest rated hotels outside of London. Later that year, Alexander House became the home of our second flagship Utopia Spa, cementing our hotel’s reputation as one of the finest spa hotels in the UK. We bought the property in 2006 and embarked on an 18 month long redecoration process, transforming Alexander House into the elegant, luxurious hotel it is today. Fast forward to 1984 when the mansion was meticulously refurbished, restored, and renamed Alexander House Hotel. The original house, famed for its grandeur, held connections to luminary poet Percy Bysshe Shelley and was later purchased in 1909 by the former Governor of the Bank of England. One stone from the boundary dates back to 1608 – a history that now stands proud in our luxurious 1608 Champagne Bar. Dating back to the 17th century, Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa has a fascinating history that traces back to when a Roman road ran past the western boundary. ![]()
